What Is Glass Pool Fencing?

Glass pool fencing is a type of fencing that uses glass panels to surround a pool. Glass pool fencing is a popular choice for many homeowners because it is elegant and provides an unobstructed view of the pool. Glass pool fencing is also very safe and durable.

How Does Glass Pool Fencing Work?

Glass pool fencing consists of glass panels that are mounted on metal posts. The glass panels are usually about four inches thick and are made from tempered glass, which makes them very strong and shatter-resistant. The glass panels are connected to the metal posts with hinges, so they can be opened and closed to allow access to the pool. Glass pool fencing can be installed in any type of, including concrete, wood, and stone. The glass panels can be either frameless or framed glass, which is glass that has a metal frame around it. Framed glass pool fencing looks more like a traditional fence than frameless glass pool fencing does.

Frameless Glass Pool Fencing

Frameless glass pool fencing uses glass panels that do not have any metal framing around them. Frameless glass fence panels are held together by several steel cables and hinges. This type of glass pool fencing locks in place against the edge of a swimming pool much like a shower door would locks in place against tile walls. Frameless glass pool fencing is also much lighter than framed glass pool fencing because the framing takes away from the strength of the glass itself. Because there is no metal frame surrounding each piece of glass, all of the weight of the glass is carried by the steel cables.

Framed glass pool fencing has a metal frame that surrounds each glass panel. The metal frame is usually made from stainless steel, aluminum, or galvanized steel. The frame helps to strengthen the glass and also provides a finished look to the fence. Framed glass pool fencing is more expensive than frameless glass pool fencing, but it is also more durable.

What Are The Benefits Of Glass Pool Fencing?

There are several benefits of glass pool fencing, including:

  • Safety: Glass pool fencing is very safe because it is shatter-resistant. If a glass panel does break, it will break into small pieces that will not cause any injuries.
  • Elegant: Glass pool fencing is very elegant and provides an unobstructed view of the swimming pool.
  • Lower Maintenance: Glass pool fencing does not require as much care as other types of fencing. It does not need to be repainted or stained like wooden, metal, or concrete fences do. The glass panels do need to be washed and cleaned occasionally, but this does not take any more effort than washing glass windows would require.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Glass pool fencing uses glass panels instead of wood or steel so it will not rot, warp or break down over time like other types of fencing can.
